Self Employed Category
The self-employed category is for people who are self-employed in a foreign country and have cultural, athletic and farming experience. This category was created by the government to stimulate the artistic, athletic and farming side of immigration.
Eligibility for self-employed category:
- you must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the last 5 years. Your experience is relevant if you have
- taken part in cultural activities or athletics at a world-class level or
- been a self-employed person in cultural activities or athletics
- you must be willing and able to be self-employed in Canada
- get a minimum of 35 points after we grade you based on our five selection criteria and point system based on education, experience, age, language proficiency and adaptability
- you and your family members must have a medical exam and get police certificates.
