Federal Skill Trade
The federal skill trade program is for people who want to settle in Canada permanently and are qualified under one of the skilled trade.
Minimum requirements:
- must have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade in the last 5 years.
- minimum of CLB 4 in English or French in all four abilities: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
- meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in National Occupational Classification (NOC)
- have a valid job offer for a total period of 1 year OR certification of qualification in the skilled trade issued by the Canadian provincial or federal authorities.
The trades under Federal Skilled Trades Programs are systematized under the group of National Occupational Classification:
- Industrial, electrical and construction trades
- Maintenance and equipment operation trades
- Supervisors and technical jobs in agriculture
- Processing, manufacturing and utility supervisors
- Chefs and cooks
- Butchers and bakers
